Waiting for permission is a slow game to play. It will lead to little or no growth.
You bring a value to the world. There is something you are capable of that no one else can bring. You have a unique experience and perspective on the world. If you wait for someone to give you permission to share that perspective you will never share it. People did not know they needed an iPhone, until Steve Jobs and Apple created and showed them the value. People did not know they needed a “Buy Now” button, but then Amazon created it and we use it almost everyday. Your idea does not have to be that dynamic or impactful from the start, but you need to share it and you need to do it now. Do not wait for someone to give you permission, go now and create.
The same can be said for your customers. They may not know the value you bring. That is your job as the sales professional. You need to show them the value you bring. It does not have to be a super slick sales pitch. It can be as simple as having other customers share their experiences using your product. Maybe it is as simple as showing them the numbers from before and after other clients engaged with you. Customer may not ask for this and they may not know what to ask for, so do not wait for permission, go out and engage. Show them why they have to work with you to continue to grow and succeed.
Now this may seem daunting at first. After all there are so many customers and potential customers how do you reach them all? Well start with one, then add a second. There is nothing that says you have to be all things to all people right from the beginning. In fact it is actually better to be all things to a small targeted group to start. That way you can try things, learn things, and improve things before you go to the masses. Maybe you never need to go to the masses. Maybe you are fine staying small, which is great as well. Either end result starts with a small group of consistent customers. A great book on this, I’m sure I’ve shared it before is Niche Down.
So remember:
Do not wait for permission, because you will be waiting a long time.
You bring a unique and valuable view to the world.
Start small and grow from there.
Thanks for your time and attention today. I hope you found something valuable in today’s post. If you did please share it with a friend, remember sharing is caring. :-)
